My story so far….
When I was 24 I began university studying English, folklore and psychology. I enjoyed it but felt that something was missing, and I soon found myself enrolled in college in their brand new Mass Media Communications program.
There I learned video production and editing on Premiere Pro, desktop design on Adobe Pagemaker, broadcast journalism, advertising, writing for video, and the basics of graphic design and layout.
I loved it and knew that it was the career I wanted but unfortunately due to the demands of three small children I was unable to keep up with both demands. I had to bow out, and was unable to pursue my career goals.
At home, I soon dived into many correspondence courses and started my own home based business. I worked for a company that sold everything from first aid supplies to household cleaners. Many hours were spent talking to prospects and giving presentations. I held the title of Marketing Executive for the company.
I also ran a successful craft business selling knitted and crocheted items, as well as dolls and textile crafts. The best part of both these jobs were the people I met and the conversations I had. I learned a little something from everyone I met along the way.
Later, when my children were in high school I decided it was time for me to return to my career plans. I looked into many college and university programs before finding AWAI (American Writers and Artists).
In AWAI, I found quality education that I could do at my own pace and not be restricted to a time schedule. I went on to do several of their courses; The Accelerated Program for Six-Figure Copywriting, Writing High Performance B2B Copywriting, How to Become a Lead-Gen Specialist, Crash Course in B2B Copywriting, How to Become an Internet Research Specialist, Web Copywriting 2.0, and Social Media Marketing Expert.
Today, I am AWAI verified and am an active member of the Professional Writer’s Alliance.
Over the past few years training with them my interests expanded out to other courses outside of AWAI. Some of them are; Public Relations, SEO Site Auditing, Market Reserach, UX Experience, Writing Business Histories, And Logo Design.
In July 2019, I started my own writing business Johnsen Copy. The company specializes in social media management, lead-generation campaigns, web content, and PPC ad campaigns.
In September 2019, I started my second business Johnsen Research. There I take on such jobs as targeted research, editing & proofreading, customer surveys & interviews, and helping entrepreneurs create their business plans.
I am passionate about advertising and marketing and am currently working on other courses and certifications to broaden my knowledge. I don’t believe learning ever stops or that you can ever know enough about any one given subject. If something interests you, you should stick with it and learn as much as you possibly can.
Outside of marketing I have several hobbies, I study Music Composition, Hebrew, French and German. I am a tea and food connoisseur, and Ripperologist. I also hike, and dance.
I live on the beautiful island of Newfoundland, Canada
